About Jay Schneiderman
Jay Schneiderman, is currently Southampton Town Supervisor, having been inaugurated in January 2016. Jay was a former Suffolk County Legislator for the Second Legislative District, who served consecutively from 2004 to 2015, having been first elected to the Legislature in the November 2003 election. He had previously served as the Supervisor for the Town of East Hampton from 2000 to 2004. Scheiderman is co-owner of the Breakers Motel on Montauk Highway in Montauk. In 1991 Schneiderman became a member of the Town of East Hampton Zoning Board of Appeals, and was appointed to its chairmanship in 1996. He served in that capacity until 1999 when he was elected to the first of two terms as East Hampton Town Supervisor where he served until 2003. Legislator Schneiderman is credited with many accomplishments including the widening of County Road 39 in Southampton, initiating Suffolk County public bus service on Sundays, preserving thousands of acres of open space and farmland, and never raising general fund property taxes in 16 yearsof elected office. In 2003 he was elected to the county legislature and re-elected in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013.
