About William Wachtel
William Wachtel is a co-founder of the New York law firm Wachtel Missry, LLP. As head of the firm’s Litigation Practice, he has represented clients in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters. He is the founder of the Drum Major Institute, originally the Drum Major Foundation which was established by his father, Harry Wachtel, Esq. and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to achieve progress in voting and human rights, racial equality, and economic justice. William is a co-founder with Ambassador Andrew Young of Why Tuesday?, created in 2005 in honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to achieve voting reform. He also served as legislative assistant to United States Senator P.J. Leahy from 1974–1975. He presently serves as Inspector General of Hudson Yards; it is the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York City since Rockefeller Center.
