Stephen Payne is vice president of corporate communications for Feld Entertainment Inc., which owns Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. He is the spokesperson for the circus. This week Chelsea City Council woman Rosie Mendez proffered a bill in the City Council which would ban circus animals in the City. The Circus has taken issue with is proposed legislation. Mr. Payne has said, ‘Not only do they spread inaccurate animal rights propaganda about the circus, they also insult the dedicated men and women with Ringling Bros. who spend 24 hours a day, seven days a week, caring for our animals. Ringling Bros. has a proud history of showcasing the very best in human and animal performances in every city we visit.’
