When he ran in the 2008 United States Republican presidential primaries, he won Iowa Republican caucuses and finishing second in delegate count and third in both popular vote and number of states won. As Governor he left a legacy of tax cuts, job creation, the reconstruction of his state’s road system, K-16 education reform, and a nationally heralded and duplicated health initiative that focused on the less expensive approach of prevention than the costly big-government approach of intervention. Governing Magazine named him as one of its “Public Officials of the Year” for 2005, and Time Magazine honored him as one of the five best governors in America. Following the 2008 elections, Huckabee hosted the Fox News Channel talk show Huckabee, before ending the show in order to run for President in 2016. He is an ABC Radio political commentator on The Huckabee Report. In Governor Huckabee’s just released book, “God, Guns, Grits and Gravy,” he discusses the myriad differences he has seen between those who live in the blue, coastal “bubbles” and the “bubbas” of the red flyover states.

Gilmore is the President & CEO of the Free Congress Foundation, a conservative think tank which was founded by Paul Weyrich.
