– On the Democratic race for President: “Politics is a strange business, I’m probably the last guy to offer an opinion on how to win the presidency given what happened to me in 1988…Kitty and I are going to be with Hillary, we like her and have a lot of respect for her.”

– On the possibility of Vice President Joe Biden entering the race: “I have no idea, it’s the toughest thing you’ll ever have to do in politics.”

Governor Michael Dukakis served as Governor of Massachusetts from 1975 to 1979 and again from 1983 to 1991.  He is the longest-serving Governor in Massachusetts history and only the second Greek American Governor in U.S. history.  In 1988, he was the Democratic nominee for President. The National Governors Association voted Dukakis the most effective governor in 1986.
