About Joan Illuzzi

Joan Illuzzi, is the Republican Party’s nomination to run for Staten Island DA.  The election is Tuesday, November 3, 2015.  This seat formerly was held by Dan Donovan who gave up the District Attorney’s office to successfully run for the Congressional seat vacated by disgrace former Congressman Michael Grimm.   She was a former assistant district attorney in the Manhattan DA’s office, known recently for the prosecution of the Etan Patz kidnapping case.  Mrs. Illuzzi was the senior trial counsel who investigated and prosecuted homicides and other high-profile felonies. She was the chief of the hate crime unit.  Mrs. Illuzzi said, “As Richmond County district attorney, my mission will be to continue the important and incredible accomplishments of Dan Donovan and his staff.”  Recent polls have shown Mrs. Illuzzi slightly ahead of her opponent.  Mrs. Illuzzi, a Grasmere resident who was born and raised in Midland Beach, has been a Manhattan ADA for 27 years.
