About Charlie Crist
Charlie Crist, was a Republican when he was the state’s attorney general and then governor from 2007 to 2011. Mr. Crist has since that time switched to the Democratic Party and is running to represent the new Florida Congressional District 13 near Clear Water Beach. As Governor of Florida Charlie Crist helped save thousands of jobs and led the state out of the great recession by cutting taxes, supporting President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package, and reining in wasteful spending. He drew widespread criticism in the Republican Party by acknowledging the dangers of climate change, extending voting hours during the 2008 historic election of Barack Obama, and vetoing anti-choice legislation.
