About Eric Schneiderman

Eric Schneiderman is the 65th and current New York Attorney General a Democrat.  He was elected on November 2, 2010. He is the highest ranking law enforcement officer for the State.  Before being elected Attorney General, Schneiderman previously represented the 31st District in the New York State Senate, the upper Westside of Manhattan.  Schneiderman is a former Chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee.  The Attorney General previously served as a public interest lawyer, representing tenants trying to evict drug dealers from their buildings, women seeking access to health clinics, and taxpayers in historic lawsuits against the MTA.  He also spent 15 years in private practice at the firm of Kirkpatrick and Lockhart.
