About Eric Schneiderman
Eric Schneiderman is the 65th and current New York Attorney General a Democrat. He was elected on November 2 – 2010. He is the highest ranking law enforcement officer for the State. Before being elected Attorney General – Schneiderman previously represented the 31st District in the New York State Senate – the upper Westside of Manhattan. Schneiderman is a former Chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. The Attorney General previously served as a public interest lawyer – representing tenants trying to evict drug dealers from their buildings – women seeking access to health clinics – and taxpayers in historic lawsuits against the MTA. He also spent 15 years in private practice at the firm of Kirkpatrick and Lockhart.
