About Bonnie Carroll
Bonnie Carroll, is President and Founder of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Suicide in the United States has surged to its highest levels in 30 years. Veterans are 12 times more likely to die by suicide than nonveterans. And even more staggering is that female veterans are six times more likely to succeed in suicide than their civilian counterparts. Furthermore, statistics indicate that families affected by suicide are at a higher risk of death of suicide themselves. Ms. Carroll founded TAPS in 1994 following the death of her husband, Brig. Gen. Tom Carroll, in an Army aviation crash. Ms. Carroll is a veteran of the United States Air Force with over 30 years of service in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. Ms. Carroll is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom Awards. TAPS is the frontline for veteran care since 1994, with 60,000 vets and families in their care. www.taps.org
