Interview Highlights
– The College Republican National Committee is “the oldest and largest youth organization in the country” that was founded in 1892. The first election that the Committee participated in was the re-election campaign of President McKinley.
– We need to talk to young people about “why conservative values matter in their lives…young voters are not inherently liberal.”
– “We have a great ability to convince millennials that they are conservative and they should be voting Republican. It requires a consistent and sustained effort on our college campuses.”
– “Young voters have had the disadvantage of only hearing from one side. The democrats make a consistent effort to go to campuses to talk to young people. Our party is good at a lot of things but this hasn’t been one of them.” We are trying address this issue.

Alex Smith is the National Chairman of the College Republican National Committee (http://www.crnc.org). Prior to being elected as National Co-Chairman for the 2012 cycle, she served as Chairman of the D.C. Federation of College Republicans. In 2014, she was named as an RNC “Rising Star” and was the recipient of the RNC’s Jeane Kirkpatrick Award. She was also featured on Red Alert Politics’ “Thirty Under Thirty” list of up-and-coming young, conservative leaders. She is an alumna of The Catholic University of America, where she graduated from the University Honors Program magna cum laude, and of Seton Hall University School of Law. She is an attorney licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
