About Judge Richard M. Weinberg

Judge Richard M. Weinberg was a judge for the New York City Criminal Court in New York. He was appointed to this position in December of 2001 and was reappointed in 2007. He has also served as an Acting Justice of the New York County Supreme Court and the Presiding Judge of the Midtown Community Court since 2006.   Weinberg began his career in 1975 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Henry Bramwell of the Eastern District of New York. He then worked as an associate for the law firms of Arent, Fox, Kintner, Plotkin & Kahn (1977 – 1979) and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (1979 – 1981). He served as a New York Assistant Attorney General from 1981 to 1989. From 1989 until his judicial appointment in 2001, he served as general counsel and counsel to Speaker Peter Vallone of the New York City Council.  He was Counsel to Peter Vallone of the NYC Council 1989 – 2001.
