U.S. Senator Charles Schumer in 1974 he was elected to the New York State Assembly. In 1980, at 29, Chuck was elected Congressman from the 9th CD and represented the district in Brooklyn and Queens for eighteen years. In 1998, he was elected to the U.S. Senate. Following the elections of 2006, he was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Democratic Conference and after his reelection in 2016 Senator Schumer became the Senate Minority leader.
