– Regarding his time with President George W. Bush in NYC in September, 2011: “President Bush that day was extremely saddened, but also extremely strong and absolutely determined…there was no doubt in my mind he was going to be like steel and he was not going to back down in anyway and do whatever needed to be done…President Bush got strength” from first responders he saw at Ground Zero.

– “As tragic as it was (September 11,2001), it also showed the absolute heroism, vitality, and courage of the United States.”

Congressman Peter King is a member of the Homeland Security Committee and Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence. He also serves on the Financial Services Committee and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Congressman King has been a leader in the ongoing effort to have Homeland Security funding based on threat analysis and is a strong supporter of the war against international terrorism.  Chairman King led the fight to continue funding to the Secure the Cities Program to protect the New York-Long Island region from nuclear dirty bomb attacks.
