On Obamacare:
– “If we look at what is happening right now, I think we’re witnessing the death spiral that many of us predicted.”
– “Especially given a hospital has to treat someone who shows up and you can buy health insurance even if you already have an existing condition, these people are not in fact signing up and paying the premiums…And so, the people who are participating are the older and sicker people, that’s driving costs up, that causes a further exodus of younger, healthy people.”
– “Fully half of the healthcare co-ops around the country have already failed, the other half are probably going to fail next year. United Healthcare, America’s biggest health insurer, has already said they are seriously thinking of pulling out entirely because there’s no way they can survive in this. So this is the death spiral that was inevitable.”
– “We’ve got to move away from Obamacare entirely. We should repeal this bill and move healthcare in a direction where individuals, patients, families are in control of their own healthcare decisions, get to buy a health insurance plan that works for them. They should have portability, there are things we can do to lower costs, but the path we’re on is just wrong.”

United States Senator Pat Toomey is the Republican junior United States Senator for Pennsylvania, in office since 2011. Prior to being elected to the U.S. Senate, Toomey served as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 15th congressional district from 1999 to 2005. After becoming the Republican nominee for the 2010 U.S. Senate election in Pennsylvania, Toomey was elected to the seat on November 2, 2010. In the U.S. Senate, Toomey serves on the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, the Committee on the Budget, the Committee on Finance, and the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, among others including several subcommittees. In 2011, he also served on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. In April 2012, Toomey was named to succeed South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint as chairman of the United States Senate Steering Committee, a Senate Republican caucus. Toomey is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2016. Toomey ADA 15% ACU 88%.
