About The Guests

◉ Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, was the federal attorney for New York state’s southern region in the 1980s. He served as the Mayor of New York City from 1994 -2001.
Giuliani was widely credited for major improvements in the city’s quality of life and rates of violent crimes. He gained international fame as New York City’s leader in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Giuliani was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2001. In 2002, Giuliani founded Giuliani Partners, a security consulting firm. Giuliani was considered a potential candidate for New York governor in 2010 and for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012; however, he declined all races and instead remained in the business sector. Since leaving office as Mayor, Giuliani has remained politically active by campaigning for Republican candidates for political offices at all levels.

◉ His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan Archbishop of New York, Timothy Dolan was named Archbishop of New York by Pope Benedict XVI on February 23, 2009. He had served as Archbishop of Milwaukee, appointed there by Pope Saint John Paul II on June 25, 2002. Ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis on June 19, 1976, he served as associate pastor at Immacolata Parish in Richmond Heights, Mo., until 1979 when he began studies for a doctorate in American Church History at The Catholic University of America. On June 19, 2001 – – the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood – – then Monsignor Dolan was named the Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis by Pope Saint John Paul II. On January 6, 2012, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI announced that Timothy Dolan was to be appointed to the College of Cardinals. Cardinal Dolan participated in the Conclave that elected Pope Francis in March, 2013.

◉ Dr. Yanping Guo is mission design leader of NASA’s New Horizons mission to Pluto. Dr. Guo designed the entire mission trajectory, from launch to Pluto and beyond. She is a supervisor of the Mission Design Section in the Space Exploration Sector of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. Dr. Guo has developed mission designs for several interplanetary missions and is currently the mission design lead of NASA’s New Horizons mission to Pluto and the Kuiper belt, and the mission design and navigation manager of NASA’s Solar Probe Plus mission scheduled to launch in July 2018. Dr. Guo was also the mission design lead for several other mission studies, including NASA’s decadal study of Uranus Orbiter/Probe mission, the Mercury Lander mission, the MERLIN Discovery mission proposal, the Great Escape Mars Scout mission proposal, NASA’s Solar Sentinels mission study, and a proposed Aladdin mission to return samples from Mars moons Phobos and Deimos. Dr. Guo received a Ph.D. in physics from the Catholic University of America.

◉ Malcolm Hoenlein has been the executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations since June 1986. Hoenlein is the recipient of many awards and tributes from organizations and individuals, including State of Israel Bonds, President Ronald Reagan, American ORT, Brandeis University, Jerusalem College of Technology, and the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations. President George W. Bush appointed Hoenlein to serve on the honorary delegation to accompany him to Jerusalem for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel in May 2008. Like many Jews in the United States and abroad, Hoenlein is diametrically opposed to the Iranian Nuclear deal as present this month, July 2015.
