John DeFrancisco is a Republican member of the New York State Senate, representing District 50 and candidate for Governor in November 2018. He was first elected to the New York Senate chamber in 1992. Senator DeFrancisco was a member of the City of Syracuse Board of Education from 1978 to 1981 and the boards President from 1980 to 1981. He was then Councilor-at-Large for the Syracuse Common Council from 1982 to 1989. From 1990 to 1992, he served as President on the Syracuse Common Council. Senator DeFrancisco was an Adjunct Professor of Law for Syracuse University College of Law from 1978 to 1990. He has worked as an attorney for DeFrancisco Law Firm since 1977.
