James Hunt DEA Agent in Charge New York began his law enforcement career inthe New York City Police Department in 1982. Mr. Hunt became a Special Agent of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in 1985 and was assigned to the New York Division. In 1999 – Mr. Hunt was promoted to Group Supervisor at the DEA Miami Division where he led a group of DEA Special Agents in conducting drug investigations targeting domestic and international drug trafficking organizations. In 2003 – Mr. Hunt was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Special Operations Division in Chantilly – VA. In 2005 – Mr. Hunt returned to the New York Division as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force (NYDETF) – which is the largest and oldest task force in the nation. In 2010 – DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart promoted Mr. Hunt to the Senior Executive Service as the Associate Special Agent in Charge of the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force. In January of 2014 was promoted to Special Agent in Charge of the New York Division and currently oversees all of DEA operations and investigations in the State of New York.
