Former Congressman Vito Fossella, is a Republican who represented the state’s 13th Congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives for six terms – from 1997 to 2009 serving as the lone Republican from New York City. Before being elected to the House of Representatives – Mr. Fossella served in the New York City Council – representing Staten Island. While at the City Council – he authored legislation that led to the agreement to permanently close the Fresh Kills Landfill a major issue with the island borough. Congressman Fossella served on the House Commerce Committee while in Congress the same Committee deciding the replacement of Obamacare. While in Congress – Fossella was successful in returning over $700 million to individual investors by eliminating fees by the SEC. He also repaired the 86th Street subway station in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn.
