Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez just won an overwhelming victory in his race to replace the recently passed Ken Thompson. DA Gonzolez won by 42% in the primary and has no challenger in the November General election. He began his legal career in 1995, as an assistant district attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. In 2011, Mr. Gonzalez became the Executive Assistant District Attorney of the Green Trial Zone. Under his leadership, the Green Zone attained a record of being one of the most successful and productive trial zones in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. Promoted by District Attorney Thompson to Counsel to the District Attorney in March of 2014 Mr. Gonzalez successfully guided the launch of several of District Attorney Thompson’s key initiatives, including the creation of the Conviction Review Unit. District Attorney Eric Gonzalez initiated a groundbreaking program aimed at keeping Brooklyn safe and strengthening community trust in the criminal justice system by ensuring fairness and equal justice for all. Justice 2020 is a committee to study crime and safety.
