Arturo S. Rodriguez

Arturo S. Rodriguez is the president of the United Farm Workers. United Farmer Workers He was elected in 1993.  There he continues to build the union into a powerful voice for immigrant workers by increasing its membership and pushing historic legislation on immigration reform and worker rights.  Founded in 1962 by César Chávez, the United Farm Workers of America is the nation’s first successful and largest farmworkers union, currently active in 10 states. The union organizes in major agricultural industries across the nation.  The veteran farm labor organizer was first introduced to Cesar Chavez through his parish priest in his hometown of San Antonio in 1966.  Late last month, farmers picking peaches were sickened by pesticides sprayed over an adjoining almond field.  Arturo and the UFW took immediate action to protect their worker but he asks “who is protecting the public?”
