Stephen Dobson his childhood interest in insects led to study Entomology at Clemsondobson_s University.  After graduation, he served as a volunteer teacher in American Samoa. It was Samoa where he first witnessed the human pain and suffering caused by insects, seeing people afflicted with human filariasis (elephantiasis). Since 1998, he has worked at the University of Kentucky (UKY) as a Medical Entomologist, developing the Wolbachia pesticide approach against mosquitoes.  In 2010, Stephen founded MosquitoMate, Inc. as a spinoff company, based on UKY-patented Wolbachia technology.  Wolbachia is a reproductive parasite, manipulating the reproductive biology of hosts to increase its own transmission.  MosquitoMate has recently received commercial registration from the EPA for the MosquitoMate product against the invasive Tiger mosquito.  http://www.mosquitomate.com
